hello dear friends!

autumn is here at last: weather gets a bit unfriendly, and the people too...
but this entry isn't made to complain myself about anything that's going wrong recently: i want to tell you about some positive things happening!

first of all i became i student in erwin wurm's [link] [link] class for "sculpture and multimedia" at the university of applied arts in vienna. you can have a look at the homepage of the class here [link] , but the text is in german only...
but for me personally it's not about being at this university, but it's the exchange among the students/artists i like there: and i had luck, 'cause the people who have also started to study this autumn are all totally nice....you know, there is sometimes that picture of arrogant and difficult artists you can't talk to, but it's really different in my case: all of them are very straight, know what they want and kept their feet on the ground...
nevertheless some interesting and freaky ideas happen to appear, what motivates me more and more to create art. it's like a big think-tank out of an artistic view!
so what am i doing there? one of the most important things is, that i'm learning how to program with "processing" [link] , what is c/c++ based. well, i was never good in mathematics but i totally like it, and this is because i can see what comes out in the end: have a look at caro horn's homepage to see, what you can do with this program [link] ! the application is one of the best i've ever seen, 'cause it's the perfect symbiosis between technical skills and art. it works with mac, so windows users don't have to try it...

so what's up with my second study (art history)? i managed it to get into a seminar of anja zimmermann, who's a quite well known and important art-historian in europe (writing about art-history and gender; science and art;...). i guess my studies will reach some kind of new level...
eva an me also decided to take part at a student exchange program and to go to canada for some months within the next 1-2 years. we thought about montreal or ottawa, but as there is just one place at the concordia university (montreal) for people from the university of vienna, i think it will become the university of ottawa: there are more places left for us exchange students, so we could stay there together. but i guess i'll have to enhance my french...

what is left to say?: i know i never comment that much on your work (or very seldom), but you have to know that i watch it everytime!

you know, that i usually show you a list of my friends at the end, but i don't want to do that now. this time i want to present you some outstanding artist i really admire. their work is very different, but as i am curious about many things, this diversity is shown in my selection as well...

here we go:

:iconobleakpattern: [usa] mark is one of the first people i've met here on DA, and his work fascinated me right from the start. it's not only about a way of drawing or how he works with photos: it's the way he uses language as well as it is a fact, that you can feel, how he is living. people like him get my attribute of being real...

favs: [link] [link] [link]

:iconkrizzio: [italy] cristiano is an abstract artist like mark, but his style is totally different and completely unique. he's much working with planes...you can be shure that he belongs to the people who respond on your comments and journal entries.

:icongenun: [hungary] joachim has an interesting way of using digital media: it looks like graphic design, but it's graphic art to me (what means it is non-commercial). sorry btw: i didn't use skype very often recently, but you can contact me to practice german whenever you want ;)...

favs: [link] [link] [link]

:iconleviathan-whale: [usa] kayla is an art student like me, and i admire her ability to draw and paint. she definitely deserves a DD somewhen in the next time. but popularity plays a strange role here on DA...i mean i don't understand decisions sometimes.

that's it for now: of course more people should have been mentioned, but you know...new time - new place!

so far so good: take care,
andy

See enough horror and experience enough pain and you become separated from your self.

An artist must create as often as possible. To cease this task is, to the soul of an artist, as ceasing to breathe.
